For my first motion project we were given the task of building a carnival for a design show. We in motion were tasked with building the freak show portion of the carnival of which I took to heart. I wanted to make my freak show as disturbing as I could possibly make without revealing too much. I drew on inspiration from horror films, specifically the remake of The House on Haunted Hill which I found to have the motion of the people down to a T. Using this as inspiration I decided that I didn't want my freak to have anything that would specifically identify him as a freak and that it was all about how he reacted and moved around the room. I filmed in my universities photography studio, which had the darkness I required, and had my friend slowly pulse the lights behind the freak to create a disturbing atmosphere. After filming I ran the video through freeware video compressors which caused the video to skip and jump randomly enhancing the effect of the overall video.
I have since been told that lots of people have difficulty watching this video through to the end because they are far too creeped out, which means that I accomplished my mission
